Great news! NSF has changed the status of our grant application to “Awarded.” After it all shakes out, it’s not actually a huge amount of money, but it will pay for keynote speakers, graduate students to organize and archive the materials produced by the conference, a website to make the materials public, and meeting facilities. The Organizing Committee will be meeting at the end of October, and we will keep you posted on all developments.
Note that the proposal was very much geared toward an STS (Science and Technology Studies) audience, because that’s the division of NSF that is providing the funding. We can of course feel free to take the conference in other directions so long as we live up to the essence of what is included in the proposal.
In the meantime, if you have any questions or want to help out with any aspect of the conference, please let me know!
And remember, it’s Friday, APRIL 11 to Sunday, April 13, 2014 at UMass Amherst!
Keep track of the conference at www.science-for-the-people.org.
Very best wishes,
